Introduction
Sun began his professional journey as a pharmacist and working in the field for over a decade. Multiple knee surgeries from sports injuries changed his perspective on healthcare, highlighting the strengths and limitations of surgery and medication for pain relief. This experience led him to explore complementary approaches, drawing him to acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Through these, he adopted a comprehensive, whole-body approach to health, shifting his focus from pharmacy to integrative medicine.
His practice focuses on patients with musculoskeletal injuries, orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and acute/chronic pain, offering effective, sustainable relief. By blending Eastern and Western medical philosophies, he tackles the intricate connections among nerves, blood vessels, muscles, joints, connective tissues, and bodily systems (zang fu). Rooted in neuroanatomy (jing luo) and myofascial functional principles (jing jin), his targeted acupuncture techniques alleviate pain, improve movement, and encourage the body’s innate healing abilities. This comprehensive approach enhances mobility and fosters enduring wellness by optimizing these vital systems.
A graduate with honors from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, Sun holds national board certification as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, NCCAOM® in acupuncture and herbal medicine. His training includes certifications in sports and orthopedic injury care, pain management, and musculoskeletal health, including Certified Sports Medicine Acupuncture Specialist® (C.SMA) and Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist – Dry Needling Acupuncture®. Committed to staying at the forefront of pain science and effective therapies, he continually updates his skills to provide targeted, personalized care.
