Introduction
Julie graduated with her Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in 2006, and her Doctorate in Acupuncture with a specialization in Chinese Herbs from the Pacific College of Health and Science in 2023.
When she first returned home to begin her acupuncture career, she helped run Kaiao Community Garden - one of only two community gardens on the island at the time, an invaluable experience where she learned to practice maka hana ka ‘ike, aloha kekahi i ke kahi, ʻaʻohe hana nui ke alu ʻia, ‘auamo kuleana.
Julie has been an acupuncturist in her hometown of Hilo, Hawaii for 17 years. For the last 8 years, her focus has been working with veterans, many with chronic pain and PTSD. Making the wonders of acupuncture accessible to all through Hawaii Community Acupuncture is also a life-long goal for Julie. She has seen it help thousands of family, friends, neighbors, and community members alleviate acute as well as chronic pain and suffering.
In addition to her clinic work, Julie has a passion for elder care. She lives in a multigenerational home and works with families in her community to support the needs of a growing elder population. She loves to swim and travel with her husband.
